Night Lights

Meredith Letts
I walk by these lights every day on my way to and/or from work. I love the repetition of the lights.

Alana in a Circle

Linda Tse Correia
LOVED this mirror and this was just something I thought I'd try; checking out the effect/limitation of the circ. pol. filter combined with a UV. on highly reflective surface. Alana graciously agreed to be my beautiful model. (Tho she refused to ride a Tao lion for next month's photos).

The perfect little round lights and then way the overhang jutted out into the air. Maybe I should have cropped it a little moreā€¦

Circles of Lights

Linda Tse Correia
My second favorite of my shots. This required searching for the right area w/multicolored lights that weren't just horizontally oriented for a more dynamic pic, getting the movement of the camera just right so that they were circles & not squiggles of light, setting the shutterspeed/aperture to get the shot correctly and a steady hand in motion. I also did this from a NJ Transit so I had to make sure the inside train lights didn't reflect in my shot too obviously.

This was one of the most fun shots to take.

As someone noted - the circles aren't that obvious - and there are
bunches of them!

Circles O'Copper

Alana S. Glubo
Taken in a garbage bin on Second Avenue, New York City
This photo was taken while on lunch break (with Linda) and i loved the raw vibrancy and industrial feel to these copper poles. I wish that I had gotten a couple more photos of them up-close so that it was more abstract, but i was still happy with the image and loved the gradients of the copper.

Bathing Circles

Alana S. Glubo
Taken off of the Pier in the West Village, New York City
This photo was taken on one of the first warm days of the season while dog sitting with a friend. I loved that the poles seemed to have no real purpose except in just beauty alone. This cluster really caught my eye and i liked how murky and mysterious the water was surrounding.

Sewing Circles

I had other shots I liked better than this one, but my husband really like it. I love how the button is the mascot of the garment district and was looking for the statue but didn't see it and moved on and found this.

Ignored Circles

Alana S. Glubo
Taken on a random downtown street, New York City
This photo was taken on a side street of the West Village. I felt as if i was taken off of the busy streets of Manhattan and reveled in the quiet. this photo was more about that moment and the feelings that ensued. I was very happy with the outcome and felt the photo completely captured that moment.

Traveling in the Right Circles

Linda Correia
Don't scream, I originally thought this was a Jag. I know. I was coming out of the neurologists office (that carrying this camera caused me to have to go see) and it was right outside. I just liked that you can see anything in the city of NY>

Bi-Cyrcles

Linda Correia
Again, not my favorite of this series I shot but I loved my name for it so much, I threw it in as one of my top 5. I know, I know, its a PHOTO contest not a naming contest. I did like the construction in the background w/the orange cone- it was like, the bike symbol was there, but you couldn't actually cycle cuz the road's torn up. (if you cycle in the city you should get an award).

Scrolling Circles

Alana S. Glubo
Taken on a side street of Gramercy Park, New York City
This photo was taken on a neighboring street to my apartment. I focused on the far side of the rail. I really liked the scrollwork, but especially the contrast between the iron and brick it almost had a feminine vs masculine feel.

Radial

Meredith Letts
This actually is my favorite that I posted. People thought I was a little nutz staring straight up and inching this way and that trying to get this huge 4 tiered chandelier on 5th Avenue to line up to be these perfect concentric circles. I also like the added tension the lines on the right give the photo.
